Diary of a busyish woman

Hi, No photos this time because I'm on a bit of a rant: Hubby & I like our coffee. He's all Americano & I like Cappuccino. We like full-bodied strong but not bitter coffee. I make a pot of filtered coffee most mornings when I'm at home and just have it with a drop of milk. I've tried black, but it just doesn't work for me. Always on the lookout for places that serve good coffee, we were on our way home from Kerry recently. We stopped at one hotel, where the receptionist didn't even look up from her computer screen and the bar was closed. I suggested we could get a cup and sit to read the paper in the foyer where the furniture looked really comfy, but Hubby was having none of it. He had previous experience of being served the coffee from a coffee jug and it was super weak in his opinion. Retreating to our vehicle, we continued on our merry, or not so merry, way. I can't believe it's TWO weeks since I posted but on reflection, it's not surprising. The last weeks in December were absolutely hectic culminating in my 18 hour day on Tuesday, 23rd - this was a shocker for me when I actually added up my hours. I did manage to do a little bit of office work on 24th, but really I was present physically & on a mental shut down. We were supposed to be more than 4 for Christmas dinner, but that didn't pan out, so we spent most of the day from 8am church service catching up with each other and relaxing most of all. Yes, we enjoyed turkey and our own smoked ham, but we'd sold out of spiced beef & I didn't have time to make either a Christmas pudding or a cake so we did without. In fact as I hadn't been shopping, there was no cream in the house either & we were down to 3 onions! 'My Coffee du Jour' Today is my day for catching up with Willie and the lads, and I'm even doing a bit of time in the kitchen/house. During the week, most conversation revolves around business in one form or another and it's easy to get stuck in that rut. What a joy this morning to get up and look forward to a leisurely cup of coffee (trying Cork Coffee Roasters today) Yesterday I was in the motor tax office and realised it's quite a while since I've been there. I truly dreaded going because it was the last working day in October and the queues are always out the door; it didn't help that I was landing there between 1 & 2pm - the busiest time of the day. What a shock to the system and a realisation of how much business is now done online. In front of me stood about 10 people with just three hatches open to customers.
